How to delete your data.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app

1. Sign in at 99ideologies.org.
2. Go to Profile → Settings → Account.
3. Scroll to the Delete account section and confirm.

This permanently removes your user record, your linked OAuth identities (Google, X, Facebook), your compass results, community threads and replies you authored, and your karma history. Action is irreversible and takes effect immediately.

Option 2 — Email us

If you can’t access the account yourself (for example, you signed in with Facebook and have since deactivated your Facebook account), email us at privacy@99ideologies.org from any address you can verify ownership of, with the subject “Data deletion request”. Include:

• The email or social handle you signed in with (Google, X, or Facebook).
• Confirmation that you want all associated data permanently deleted.

We will confirm the request, complete deletion within 30 days, and email you when it’s done.

What we delete

• Your user account, profile information, and avatar.
• Your linked OAuth identities (Google, X, Facebook) — the access tokens we hold are revoked and the rows removed.
• Your compass results, including the rendered share images stored in our object storage.
• Your community threads, replies, votes, and karma history.
• Your notification preferences and settings.

What we may retain (and why)

A small amount of data may persist after account deletion in two narrow cases:

• Aggregated statistics that don’t identify any individual (e.g. “total quizzes taken this month”).
• Audit logs and abuse signals required to comply with legal obligations or to protect the platform from spam, harassment, or fraudulent re-registration. These are kept only as long as legally necessary and are not used for any other purpose.

Disconnecting one provider without deleting your account

If you only want to remove the link between your 99Ideologies account and Facebook (or Google or X) without deleting the rest:

1. Sign in and go to Profile → Settings → Accounts.
2. Click Disconnect next to the provider.

We require at least one sign-in method to remain on your account, so if Facebook is your only login, you’ll need to set a password first. Disconnecting also revokes the access token we hold for that provider.
