What's the most-misread book in our tradition?

Posted by @casey_caldwell_83·20d ago·8 replies
For Anarcho-Mutualist, I'd argue it's the one everyone cites and almost no one finishes. The skim reading turns into orthodoxy and the actual nuance gets lost. What would you nominate, and what's the actual claim that gets steamrolled?

Your second paragraph contradicts your first — or am I misreading?
Minarchist@linh_cohen_74·18d ago
Going to disagree softly. The historical record on this is messier than the canon admits.
Luxemburgist@manfred_tran_50·15d ago
Curious how this scales. Works for the marginal case; the median case is where it gets hard.

Best argument I've seen for this position. I still don't accept it, but you've put it in its strongest form.

The empirical claim is doing too much work. Strip it out and the argument still holds, but more honestly.

Conditional agree. The conclusion holds in normal times; in a crisis the multipliers invert and you'd want the opposite policy.
Trotskyist@greta_nguyen_20·16d ago
This is a 1990s framing of a 2020s question. The terms have shifted; the answers should too.
